The Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing is a brand-new purpose-built facility that was part of stage 2 of the RSEA Park development project, named in honour of the late St Kilda Football Club captain. The centre has been designed to provide support and assistance to the club and community with both their physical and mental health, offering world-class fitness, aquatic, mindfulness, mental health, and wellbeing facilities. The facility has been highly praised in the AFL community.
Our Scope
Marshall Day Acoustics provided input to the town planning application for both project stages and provided ongoing consulting throughout the design and construction stages, through to commissioning. Specification of materials and construction supervision was critical to achieving the acoustic design goals of the project.
Challenges
The mixed-use nature of the facility presented acoustic design challenges to provide appropriate acoustic separation between high noise level spaces such as swimming pools and noise-sensitive consulting rooms and function spaces.
Noise from plant associated with the facility had to be carefully designed and acoustically screened to achieve stringent environmental noise limits at the site.
